Angeles Lakers
Is the current Los Angeles Lakers team built for the long-term? how much longer will they be an NBA title?
contender? The Los Angeles Lakers, as everyone knows, are in the NBA Finals for the 3rd straight year, and most likely will repeat as NBA Champions this year, but anyway, how many more years will this current Laker team be an NBA Title contender?
The lakers can play at a high level for 3-4 years. Just look at the vet squad they're matched up against right now...RayRay age 35, KG age 34, Pierce age 33. All those guys can still get it done.
Guys like Nash won MVP's in his 30's, Kidd's old and still playing pretty good. Michael Jordan retired at age 35...and also won an Nba title that year. Skilled players who's games aren't all based on athleticism can play and be effective for a long time.
Gasol is 30, Kobe 31, Odom 30. Bynum's young, Fisher will probably retire soon. I think they can easily go another 4 yrs as being contenders. As long as you have that Kobe/Gasol tandem for the next few years, your odds are good. A lot probably depends on being able to retain Phil Jackson and add a big name younger FA some time in the future.
